TORRANCE, CA., September 10, 2012 - Robert J. Margolis, MD, Chairman and CEO of HealthCare Partners,LLC, the country's largest operator of medical groups and physician networks with a reputation for clinical excellence and patient satisfaction, today announced the acquisitions of ABQ Health Partners, New Mexico's largest independent multispecialty medical group.
The merger represents HealthCare Partners’ entry into New Mexico
and makes available to ABQ Health Partners broad expertise in
patient-centered, coordinated care systems. “ABQ Health Partners is
exactly the type of partner we value. They have a proud history of
innovation, strong talent, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
And they focus on supporting physicians to provide outstanding care in
the same way we do,” said Dr. Margolis. “We have been in active
exploration with ABQ Health Partners for over a year and are excited to
partner with them in New Mexico, a state with unique healthcare
challenges and opportunities.”
HealthCare Partners has successfully applied best practices in
patient care in each of the markets it serves and has continued to
improve clinical quality metrics for patients seen by its employed
physicians and independently affiliated physicians while lowering cost
trends. “Like HealthCare Partners, our core values have always
centered on putting patients first and keeping people healthy,” said ABQ
Health Partners President and CEO Harry Magnes, MD. “HealthCare
Partners is a unique organization. Their leaders recognize that the
doctor-patient relationship should be at the center of healthcare and
healthcare reform. Our patients will now have access to world-class
patient care resources and systems, and our providers will have the
backing of a national doctor-led organization. This is a strong
strategic partnership that will benefit everyone involved.”
ABQ Health Partners will operate as a subsidiary of HealthCare
Partners, LLC, and the ABQ executive management team has committed to
stay and manage the New Mexico operations.
This past May, HealthCare Partners announced a merger with
publicly held DaVita, Inc., a leading provider of kidney care services
for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The parties
continue to believe that the merger will be completed in the fourth
quarter of this year.
